Did you know that only 50% of people with diabetes get an annual comprehensive, dilated eye exam? This is a scary statistic since this exam is the only way to detect the disease, BEFORE vision loss occurs.
November has been marked as Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month to help promote awareness about how diabetes affects our vision.
Diabetic Eye Disease is a serious complication of diabetes that can lead to vision loss. Diabetic Retinopathy is the most common Diabetic Eye Disease (Cataract and Glaucoma being the other two).

Most importantly, prevention for those living with diabetes is key! Getting a comprehensive, dilated eye exam once a year allows for early detection and then successful treatment.
